When cared for correctly, your crochet and knit pieces can last for generations. The question is how exactly are you supposed to wash and take care of them? Well, I’m going to share with you just how to do that. All you need is a pluggable sink, cool running water and some mild liquid detergent.
Most of Anchor In Time’s crocheted pieces are made of acrylic and or cotton yarn. These yarns are some of the easiest to care for. While they can stand up to a gentle wash cycle, I recommend hand washing to keep them in the best shape possible.
For items with more than one color, like the Market Bag, be aware that colors may run into each other. Using cold water should prevent this, but you may want to test a small patch in the water to check, before you wash the whole thing.
Fill a sink with a tsp of mild liquid detergent and cool water.
Add your crochet items (of one color) into the water.
Let soak for a few minutes or until any stains are lifted.
Take out the crochet items and drain the sink.
Rinse your items under cool running water.
Gently ring out the water.
TIP: If your accessory has stretched over time, you can squeeze it back to it’s original shape while it’s still wet.
& LAY FLAT TO DRY
Lay a towel across the top of your dryer or a counter.
Place your crochet item on the towel and press it into the towel to remove excess water.
TIP: Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid color fading.
Enjoy your freshly cleaned accessories!
